On March 28, 2023 from 8 AM – 4PM the Alamo Head Injury Association (AHIA) will host its 22nd Annual Brain Injury Symposium at the Whitley Theology Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Each year, the symposium offers continuing education opportunities for healthcare professionals in the community. Our audience includes, but is not limited to case managers, licensed professional counselors, registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, rehabilitation counselors, social workers, speech and language pathologists, and certified brain injury specialists.
Stay tuned for more information on topics to be covered this year. Topics last year included long-haul coronavirus symptoms, vision impairments, complementary and alternative medicine, ethical implications for treatment dilemmas, driving best practices and compassion fatigue.
Continuing Education
This activity has offers continuing education (CE) credits to nurses, case managers, social workers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, certified rehabilitation counselors, and community rehabilitation program providers.
Nurses: Pending approval for continuing education in accordance with Florida & California Boards of Registered Nursing Statutes. This certification is in accordance with other State Board of Nursing (SBON), as defined by their state statutes.
Texas Social Workers: Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners no longer pre-approves courses; the attendee is responsible to determine if the content meets the need of their license renewal requirements. Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners for six credit hours. They do not approve credits. Pending approval by the Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers.
Occupational Therapists: This course may qualify for credit towards license renewal if it meets criteria to further your professional practice in your area of practice. Pending approval by the Florida Board of Occupational Therapy.
Physical Therapists: Pending approval for the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for six credit hours for PTS and PTAs.
Speech-Language Pathologists: Approved for the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) for six credit hours. TSHA approval does not imply endorsement of course content, specific products, or clinical procedures.
Rehabilitation Counselors: Approved for the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselors Certification for six CE contact hours.
